The 1950 UK General Election
In this video I tell the story of a forgotten election. The 1950 UK General Election, which saw Clement Attlee's Labour Party re-elected, but with their majority in the House of Commons reduced from 145 seats to just 5. I argue that this was not a foregone conclusion and suggest that the electoral system and Attlee's decision to go ahead with redrawing the electoral boundaries have a large part in the story.
