A data management and sharing plan (DMSP) is a formal document that outlines how you plan to handle your data both during your research project and after your project is complete, including how it will be made publicly available at the time of publication. The need for robust DMSPs has increased, with more federal and private funding agencies requiring DMSPs in their grant applications. Multiple federal agencies have outlined specific guidance requiring all investigators to include a DMSP in their grant proposals.
How does this affect your research? What do you need to include in your DMSP?
The FSU Office of Research and the FSU Libraries offered a workshop focused on crafting a DMSP that will meet policy requirements. Research Data Management Librarian Dr. Nick Ruhs walked us through what DMSPs are, resources that are available to help craft DMSPs, how to create them, and examples of DMSPs for specific funding agencies.
