A walk-through of some SMD soldering, including two chips, some 0603 resistors and some small SMD-mounted 7-segment displays. Finally a special kind of pin header that can be surface mounted with everything remaining straight and square.
Soldering SMD components requires care but can *easily be done* by hobbyists. Check out the SMD practice kit below (and many others on that Banggood site).
