How to take a model created with lofts, section / split up the lofted faces and unwrapping those surfaces so they can be cut to scale for example on a CNC machine or added to a technical drawing which can be printed out onto card to recreate the 3D model. The example, a simple boat will be built using a loft and the curves created in the curves workbench (but you can use any workbench you like such as the sketcher). We will then use the curve to split the loft into planks. Those planks we will unwrap, group together and make a cutting pattern. We can extrude these if we want to add them to the path workbench for CNC cutting. We will also learn a way of making ribs and cross sections again flattening those for inclusion in our technical drawing or CNC path.
We will also learn how to use the standard part to group and transform groups of objects and the selection panel to filter out the elements for quick multi-selection. We also use the box element selection to multi-select edges easily. There will be a number of tools we will be using in the part, mesh, draft and curves workbench.
