Litvin has the last chance to execute the order of the German command – to destroy Shtur. He knows that Katerina is planned to be taken out of the city and be sent to a new place of work and plans to ambush her. He has no idea that the transfer of Katerina is the operation that is developed by the Soviet intelligence service to destroy the network of residents, including Litvin.
Vlad Volny, aka Vladimir Volnov, gets an assignment to participate in this operation. For agents of the German intelligence service it becomes a failure: Litvin and Anna are arrested, the rest of the agents are destroyed.
For the failure of the operation to eliminate Shtur intelligence chief Major demoted in rank, he faces to be sent to the Eastern front. He decides to commit a suicide.
Vlad and Katerina are allowed a short meeting before she is sent to another city. They realize that this may be their last meeting ever or at least until the end of the war.
The scout Shut is thrown behind the front line, where he begins to perform the next task.
