Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) service providers are vital in supporting mothers through the postpartum period, offering more than just nutritional guidance. Their role extends to providing emotional support and access to resources that can help reduce stress. By being attuned to the needs of new mothers, WIC providers can support women who may be experiencing or at risk for developing postpartum depression (PPD) and ensure that they receive the necessary care and support. This holistic approach not only aids in finding necessary mental health support but also fosters a healthier and more resilient start to motherhood.
