Numbers can be represented with different base number: decimal, binary, octal and hexadecimal
Decimal numbers are using 10 as the base number and we use these numbers on a daily basis, e.g. 45,325
Computers use typically binary numbers with base 2, these are shown with the numbers o and 1, an example of a binary number is 1001. In order to make sure we are talking about binary numbers, an index 2 will be added at the end of the number.
Another base is 8 and it is the base used for the octan numbers. The numbers go from 0 up to 7.
The last type of numbers we will consider are hexadecimal numbers. You can find them in many computer applications and they are a condensation of the binary numbers. The numbers vary from 0 to 9 and A to F. To show that the number is hexadecimal, an index of 16 is added at the end. An example of a hexadecimal number si AEF03B
