2023 Changan Shenlan S7 in-depth Walkaround
China's latest electrified SUV, the Shenlan S7, has been developed by a consortium consisting of Changan, CATL, and Huawei. As the automaker's second model, it follows the SL03 sedan. The mid-sized SUV is rear-wheel drive and has a size of 4750/1930/1625 with a 2900 wheelbase. The Shenlan S7 will be available in two versions: an EV and an EREV.
The EV version of the Shenlan S7 will be offered with two power outputs, 218 hp, and 258 hp. The EREV version, on the other hand, will have a 238 hp electric motor and a 95 hp 1.5-liter gasoline engine. Unlike the EV, the EREV's gasoline engine will not be connected to the wheels. Instead, it will act as a generator for the battery pack.
Shenlan plans to position the S7 as a mid-sized SUV, targeting consumers looking for an electric vehicle with ample space and performance. With a strong consortium backing its development, the Shenlan S7 has the potential to become a popular choice among consumers seeking an affordable, yet high-performing electric vehicle.
