OpenWRT - Realtek RTL8125B 2.5GbE Network Adapter Overview & Testing
In this video, let's take a look at the Realtek RTL8125B 100/1000/2500 Mbps PCIe Ethernet Adapter and test it out with OpenWRT.
For the test, I used the Zimaboard with the original 36W power adapter. OpenWRT x86 is installed on the USB drive and everything has been working great.
The driver/kernel package for the RTL8125B is already available on OpenWRT 23.03 stable release and the network interface was automatically configured. With a LAN to LAN test using iperf3, I got 2.35 Gbps throughput with just 7.4W of power consumption. The iperf3 test in reversed mode is slower when running in 4 streams, after reduced to single stream, it gives 1.8Gbps throughput.
