Super easy way to change Mac hostname / computer name without issues. Sharing name.
Commands to use:
Macbook1 is the name of computer I set, you can change this to anything you want.
sudo scutil --set HostName Macbook1
sudo scutil --set LocalHostName Macbook1
sudo scutil --set ComputerName Macbook1
You can run them all together in 1 go, does not need to be one at a time.
