Bringing Sound to Eurovision 2023 (with Britannia Row Productions)
Love it or hate it, the Eurovision Song Contest is one of the largest globally televised music events, with this year’s show raking in around 160 million viewers worldwide.
Behind the lights, choreography and music is a complex audio infrastructure that is responsible for playback, front-of-house, broadcast feeds, and a whole lot more. It’s no wonder that the words resilience and redundancy featured heavily in the brief Britannia Row Productions worked to when planning the system.
To find out more about what goes into the design of such a large-scale production, we sat down with Britannia Row’s Head of Engineering Josh Lloyd, who kindly gave us a behind the scenes look at the system he devised for Eurovision 2023, featuring devices from DirectOut, RME and FERROFISH.
