07. UpFall
Again this song has been around for a while. I was going to release a high octane huge anthemic mega pop version of the song and had it all ready to go but then at the last minute when doing these live vids realised I prefered it like this. I guess this chilled piano singing thing works for me at the moment. Maybe I'll still release that version one day as an alt version.
On this version I sang through an autotune effect and dried my vocals up (no reverb for a change) which I think give it a Bon Iver sort of thing.
This song is about escaping - potentially using mind altering substances to get there. It's a bit trippy. The idea that if you can cut the chord and fall upwards. But the thing with every high its always, always followed by a low. The perfectly beautiful yin yang of natures design. So I guess it's sort of like a downfall really. But an upfall. Although it can also be lovely sharing those sorts of upfall experiences with people once in a blue moon.
