Ikv 91 was an Infantry support armoured vehicle that was in the Swedish Army from the end of the 1970s to early 2000. 212 vehicles were built by Hägglunds & söner. They are designated somewhere between an assault gun and a light tank. 90 mm low pressure gun, around 16,3 tons, armour protection against 20-25 mm projectiles.
High mobility and fast, 65 km/h on land and 6,5 km/h in water. The wide tracks and the turbocharged 330 ho Volvo diesel engine gave Ikv 91 an impressive 20,2 hp/ton, which is perfect in muddy and snowy Sweden. Ikv 91 was amphibious and could even shoot while travelling through water. All in all, a great assault gun for Scandinavian climate but was retired because of the military budget cuts after the end of the cold war.
