The clambunk achieves much larger payloads, compared with a grapple skidder. Because it is confined to the log matt, it is reliant on a shovel logger to build several bunches into a full load. The ultra low ground pressure shovel logger can often work off the matt, organizing and consolidating the loads. The end result is wide spaced extraction matt roads. This in turn contributes to greatly reduced ground disturbance in sensitive soft terrain and lowland harvesting operations.
