In this video a beginner competes with the new GoPro Hero 9 against a pro with the old GoPro Hero 3:
Rules:
Both have exactly 20minutes to shoot a cinematic sports commercial. The beginner has the advantage to film everything with the brand new GoPro Hero 9 and the pro has to film everything with the GoPro Hero 3.
After the shoot both get 2 hours to edit their cinematic commercial.
Results:
It's obvious that the GoPro Hero 9 has a much better stabilization and image quality than the GoPro Hero 3. But that's not enough to make a cinematic video. Skills are much more important and that's why a pro with an old GoPro Hero 3 beats a beginner with a GoPro Hero 9, even though he has a much worse camera to film with.
Conclusion:
Image quality and stabilization are both extremely important to get cinematic GoPro shots. The GoPro Hero 9 is able to filme those cinematic shots, but to make a full cinematic edit it's necessary to know how to plan, shoot and edit a cinematic commercial. Skills are crucial to make outstanding videos and that's why a pro with a GoPro Hero 3 beats a beginner with a GoPro Hero 9, no matter what they have to film.
