Howse Peak is a mountain located in the Canadian Rockies, in Alberta's Banff National Park. It is part of the Waputik Range, a subrange of the Canadian Rockies. With an elevation of 3,295 meters (10,804 feet), Howse Peak is one of the highest peaks in the area. The mountain is known for its steep, challenging climbing routes, particularly the east face, which is considered to be one of the most difficult and dangerous climbs in North America. Over the years, several climbers have died attempting to climb the peak or on its surrounding routes. The tragic history of accidents and fatalities on the mountain includes the deaths of three renowned mountaineers, David Lama, Hansjorg Auer, and Jess Roskelley, who were killed in an avalanche while attempting to climb the east face of Howse Peak in April 2019.
