Personally, I think actually singing all the harmonies yourself (or having other singers or course) is the best way to record vocal harmony. But the ability to have a computer help you with that can be useful, especially if you have a hard time with singing harmonies. Typically, programs dedicated to creating harmonies are expensive. But if you have Reaper (which only costs $65 after a 60-day free trial), you already have what you need.
