Thomson’s Plum Pudding Model | History Of The Atom | GCSE Chemistry (9-1) | kayscience.com

JJ Thomson discovered the electron using his cathode ray experiment. This disproved Dalton’s atomic theory as electrons are smaller than the atom. JJ Thompson came up with the plum pudding model which described atoms as having a sphere of positive charge with negatively charged electrons scattered throughout. Both Thompson and Dalton said atoms had a neutral charge because the positive and negative charges balanced each other.
