Animal-Assisted Therapy at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s
UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s has two therapy dogs for animal-assisted therapy with both patients and employees. The dogs have a number of clinical benefits for patients as they help to lower blood pressure by reducing stress and anxiety and lessen overall physical pain by helping to release endorphins that manipulate perceptions of pain or stress. They also help to reduce fatigue, lift spirits and lessen depression among other benefits.
