Nostalgia in and of itself is actually awesome, being able to look back at the past and finding things you enjoy is great. It only becomes a problem when you become cynical in a way that prevents you from enjoying anything new. It's no secret that a lot of modern game design choices are hurting player experience in favor of monetization.
