Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT - History, Major Flaws, & Why It Got Cancelled! (2006-2021)
In this video we are looking at the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT! Launched in 2006, this was a designated performance model of the Grand Cherokee that was always affordable, but tried to punch above its weight. Whether it was the 6.1L or 6.4L Hemi V8, the SRT always had above 400 horsepower and 0-60 times in the mid 4 second range. For between $40-60k, the GC SRT was a complete performance package, with exterior enhancements, race-inspired interior, exceptional ride and handling, and thrilling acceleration. Enthusiasts loved it and it sold well, but unfortunately, 2021 was the last model year of this SRT. It wasn't feasible anymore as Stellantis pushes for electrification and are forced to comply with stricter emissions regulations.
