Creating a Demo Area as a Templett Seller

We’ve found that customers really like to try out templates before purchasing. For that reason, every seller has the ability to offer any templates they’d like in their own demo area.

To keep your designs protected, the demo area features are limited for the visitor. For example, users can customize a template just as if they had purchased it, but they cannot save anything in the demo area. This allows them to play around in the Templett application and see what’s possible with editing the template before they buy it. To safeguard your work, we will show a DEMO watermark over your templates in the demo area. That way, if a visitor tried to take a screenshot of your design, without purchasing it, the image would be worthless to them.

You may be wondering how to get the URL for your templates in the demo area. This is an example of a base url:

http://templett.com/design/demo/username

Instead of it saying “username” at the end, you’ll use your shop name. This is the base url for your demo area. The url itself won't show anything (any templates in your demo area) until you add template id's to the end of it.

You can add as many as you’d like. In this example, I’ve called out 3 different templates. They are all separated by commas with no spaces at the end of my base url.

We found that including a demo link in your product listings works best. For example, you can use the word “Demo” or the phrase “Try Before You Buy” as a title, remind them to copy and paste it, then show the link. Here’s an example of what that may look like.

Try it Before You Buy it
Copy + Paste this link:http://templett.com/design/demo/usern...

In this example, I’ve added 4 specific template ids to the end of my base url. So, the user would only see those 4 templates in my demo area.

Something to Remember: When you make your demo link, you should only show the templates you are selling in that listing. It’s best not to include random template ids for other items in your shop. That way, you’re not distracting your visitors with templates they were not interested in.

Keep in mind, Etsy does not allow outside links in listing descriptions. That is why your demo url won’t be a clickable link. This is unfortunate, but it’s not very hard for someone to copy and paste the url into a new tab in their browser.
