When editing dark photos, there are 4 edits I lean on to make the photo moody, but bright enough to still see important details.
1 - Contrast adjustment to make the photo pop
2 - Add a Vignette to darken the image and draw the eye
3 - Make tonal adjustments by altering Shadows to suit the concept
4 - Use the Brush to selectively brighten the details
