Abstract: India has one of the largest number of software developers in the world and can become one of the biggest contributors to the global codebase in the future. It is currently a big consumer of OSS, with most Indian startups, and some of the largest e-governance projects built upon OSS. Government policies are supportive of open source, open standards. India also has a patent policy that does not allow software to be patented. India is also leading the creation of Public Digital Infrastructure for identity, payments, consented data flows. This talk will give an overview of recent developments in India, and how India can contribute to the global OSS movement.
