Make Images Standout in Premiere without Drop Shadows 🤩
Things you can do to make text stand out besides using a drop shadow in Premiere.
If your background is busy blur the background.
Drop a Gaussian Blur on the clip below your text.
Then keyframe it so the blur happens after the audience sees the image.
If your background is light and your text doesn't stand out don't forget the Color Wheel.
This image is mostly tinged orange so I'm going to use a complementary color ... like blue.
Change the texture.
Let's pretend I don't want to just type that in White.
Have your Essential Graphics panel open.
Type the text.
Then add a video or a still as a layer under the text.
Then scroll down while clicking on the text layer.
And click Mask with Text.
You'll be able to see whatever is in the second layer filling the first.
You can use the Lumetri Color panel and adjust the contrast, highlights, shadows, whites, and blacks.
Or just stick with the contrast.
You can also in the Essential Graphics panel add your text, then go to this icon here and add a shape layer behind it.
Finally the "Not Quite Drop Shadow, Drop Shadow!"
Type your text.
Add a drop shadow.
But decrease the distance.
Spread it out.
Change the color.
Then cut and paste it a few times.
