How Far Can You Go? - Range Test - Lectric XP 3.0 - Concrete and Gravel
Running your battery down to empty is not the only way to perform an electric bike range test. There is a quick and easy way to estimate what your e-bike's range will be in any condition. If your e-bike display shows speed and current (amps) and you know the size of your battery in amp hours (Ah), then you can use this quick and easy method to calculate range. After watching the video, feel free to leave any questions, comments, concerns, or gripes about the method I describe to estimate electric bike range.
If you keep speeds low, an electric motor will draw much less current from the battery and your range can be extended dramatically on flat ground. The long range Lectric XP 3.0 has a 14Ah battery, tire pressures were set at 30 psi and rider weight was approximately 185lbs. Most accessories were removed from the bike to get it close to stock weight. I evaluated electric range on a flat concrete sidewalk and flat gravel road at PAS 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. The range test was repeated on the flat concrete sidewalk and flat gravel road using throttle only while maintaining speeds of 7, 10, 15, and 20 mph.
