Besieged Chernigov. Confessions of a Survivor
Chernigov was one of the first to meet the occupying troops of the Russian Federation.
February 24, 2022. The city was under siege for several weeks, under constant shelling.
People survived during this period without power, light, water, gas and heat.
Volunteers under fire led people out of the blockade, but in mid-March, Russian troops blew up the bridge over the Desna, which was the link between Chernigov and the outside world.
The blockade ring was closed, and now it was not possible to either led people out or bring humanitarian aid to the city.
As a result, about 700 civilians were killed in the city, dozens went missing.
But they could not bury people during this period – the city cemetery was under fire from the Russians.
