When Photography Meets Surrealism: The Iconic 'Dalí Atomicus

In 1948, photographer Philippe Halsman teamed up with surrealist artist Salvador Dalí to create one of the most iconic and fascinating photographs of all time - 'Dalí Atomicus'.

The photograph took hours of planning and involved multiple assistants, including one who threw cats and another who tossed water to create the dramatic suspended objects.

Dalí himself is depicted in a surreal pose, seemingly suspended in mid-air along with the objects around him.

The objects, including a chair, a table, and even Dalí's iconic paintings, were suspended in the air, giving the photograph a feeling of weightlessness and surrealism.

The resulting photograph is not only a masterpiece of surrealism, but also a testament to the collaborative genius of Halsman and Dalí. Follow us to learn more about the stories and symbolism behind other iconic photographs.
