Nigerian singer Portable has spoken up after the Abeokuta Magistrates' Court set a ₦5 million bail for each of the nine boys accused of felony, assault, obstruction of justice, armed violence, and intent to kill. These individuals, reportedly linked to Portable, have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The case started when Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority officials visited Portable’s Odogwu Bar to enforce building regulations. The visit allegedly led to a confrontation, which resulted in the arrest of these nine individuals. Portable, who is currently at large, insists that the accusations are false. According to him, the boys are his apprentices learning various trades and not criminals. He has pleaded for their release, questioning the evidence against them and alleging that he is being unfairly targeted.
With the court demanding licensed bond agents registered with the Ogun State government as sureties, the case has been adjourned to March 17 for further hearing.
