The Problem With Aesthetic (And Why It Matters)
For those of you who actually took the time to read the description, hi!
For context, I just want to point out that I am so thankful for my life and am so privileged. However, I think that you all deserve to know kind of what our living situation has been.
Unfortunately, due to finances, my husbands health and just the economy in general, we had to move back in with my in-laws 2 years ago. (we have only lived on our own for 1 year throughout our entire relationship).
The reality is, if my in-laws didn't take us back in, we would be homeless right now.
We have one small bedroom that we can call our own, which is more than some people have, and I am grateful — but I think the problem is the trend of "aesthetic". It is so easy to fall into the comparison trap when social media is oversaturated with this type of content. Don't get me wrong! It's beautiful, and I am so happy that some people get to experience that, but for most of us, especially in Ontario, it is unattainable.
So, yes, I am blessed. But I am also sad that at 28 years old, I am not where I want to be.
