In 2022 the Europakonzert with the Berliner Philharmoniker under chief conductor Kirill Petrenko was originally planned to take place in the beautiful city of Odessa, at the Black Sea Coast, instead it took place in Liepaja, an enchanting city on the coast of Latvia, in the Great Amber Hall. The programme is a show of solidarity with Odesa and Ukraine and stands for a peaceful coexistence in Europe with music by composers whose musical message is about freedom and self-determination.
