WordPress Pages Tutorial - Creating WordPress Pages
WordPress is a content management system (CMS) and a blogging platform that is created to allow people to post regular updates to their website. However there is also capacity for static pages which allows WordPress to be used not just as blogging platform, but as a full-fledge website solution. In this video you'll learn how to create a page in WordPress.
Once in the admin area of your WordPress site hover over the Pages menu item and then click on Add New. This will take you to a blank canvas for a new page.
The first field on the page is the Title field where you will enter the title of your new page. Don't worry, the title you enter can be changed at any time in the future.
Note: If you have permalinks set to include the page name the link will be created based on the title you choose. You may want to edit this URL for SEO purposes by taking out the words that don't carry any SEO value or are STOP words.
After you've written the title click in the large text field below the title bar. That is the content field where you create all the content for your page. This can include pictures, audio clips, videos or just text; it's up to you.
As opposed to posts, pages by default don't allow you to choose Post Formats, Categories nor Tags.
Finally, you will want to either publish your page immediately, in which case you just click on the blue Publish button. Or you can schedule your page to be published in the future by clicking on the Edit link to the right of Publish immediately.
That's all there is to creating WordPress pages. Once you've done this a few times it will become second nature.
