In this video, I show a challah recipe without using industrial yeast. If you decide to give up yeast in your diet, then this is not a reason to refuse excellent baked goods! I will tell you in detail what ingredients to use, how to choose the right flour, how to shape the challah to make it lush, aromatic and soft.
For a three-braided challah, we need:
200 gr. wheat sourdough 100% moisture
100 g water
230 gr. wheat flour of the highest grade
1 egg
30 gr. sugar
5 gr. salt
30 gr. vegetable oil
You also need a non-stick baking dish or baking sheet lined with baking paper.
If you have never cooked or even tasted challah before, then you will be interested to know that this is the national Jewish holiday bread. It is baked for the holidays, as well as for Saturday.
