Panel Discussion: Kubernetes and Cloud Native Friends, A Journey of CNCF Maintainers From India
About the panel:
The Indian Cloud Native community has awe-inspiring stories of maintainers growing in the community and taking up leadership roles. There is something profound to learn from each one's story. This talk aims to be a panel discussion with 5 Indian maintainers from different cloud native projects: Kubernetes, Keptn, Dapr and Flatcar. The discussion hopes to show the audience the depth and magnitude of open source work being done here in India along with highlighting the strengths of our community as well as the problems that exist today specific to the Indian contributor base, from the eyes of our maintainers. This will be a panel discussion moderated by Madhav Jivrajani with the main intent being: 1) Normalise to the audience that our community is doing significant work in multiple cloud native projects. 2) Set the stage for our community in terms of what is next and how we can grow further 3) Surface top-of-line problems (time zone differences, lack of employer support, unsustainable mentoring structures, burnout) and strengths (extremely gifted individuals, easy access to maintainers, new mentoring plans being put into place, highly successful stories in async communication) that exist in our communities, and how we can use the latter to mitigate the former. Hopefully, this discussion busts any existing myths regarding our communities here in India, and acts as a call for help wrt existing opportunities that exist in our communities!
