Joe Lonsdale is the managing partner at 8VC, a US-based venture capital firm that manages over $5 billion dollars in committed capital. He was an early institutional investor in notable companies across a wide spectrum of technologies.
Joe is a co-founder of Palantir, a software company known for its work with US intelligence and defense organizations and numerous Fortune 500 clients. Following Palantir, he founded and continues to chair both Addepar, which manages over $4 trillion on its wealth platform, and OpenGov, which provides software to modernize and streamline processes for over 2,000 cities and state agencies. In recent years, he has been a co-founder of such influential technology companies as Affinity, Anduin, Epirus, Esper, LIT, Quaestor, Resilience Bio, and Terminal.
Joe began his career on the executive team at Peter Thiel’s macro hedge fund, Clarium Capital. He attended Stanford University, serving as editor-in-chief of The Stanford Review and interning in PayPal’s finance department before earning his BS in Computer Science.
