If visiting Georgia is on your travel bucket list, I have some excellent news for you: There has never been a more ideal time to go! There are numerous sites to visit and explore in Georgia. I'm going to share with you our first day of adventure in this wonderful country.
1. Zhinvali Lake (Reservoir).
The lake is not a natural lake, but an artificial reservoir. It is located along the Georgian Military Highway. The Soviets built the dam in the 1980s. Tbilisi's rapid growth forced Soviet authorities to decide on building a dam and supply water. The lake surprises visitors with its picturesque panoramic views and vibrant colors all year round.
2. ANANURI is a castle complex which is perched on the emerald-green waters of the river Aragvi, its a perfect example of Georgia’s distinctive mixed-timber architectural style.
It was the capital of Aragvi’s feudal dynasty in the 18th century and was the scene of many battles won and lost by Georgians. There are lots of castles and military constructions in Georgia, but Ananuri is one of the most photogenetic ones. The combination of lake, mountains, church, and belltower make for sensational pictures.Inside the complex is an active church, so it is recommended to dress modestly. Men need to be wearing long pants and women long skirts and must also cover their hair before entering. There is a narrow pathway going up to the tower. Use the wall as support to keep a steady and balanced walk. It is worth conquering your fear of heights but you will love the view once you reach the top.
3. Friendship Monument
High above Devil’s Valley in the Caucasus Mountains stands a large curved concrete structure.
Gudauri Friendship monument also known as Gudauri Panorama, is located 120 KM from Tbilisi, on the Georgian Military Highway connecting to Russia.
Georgia-Russia Friendship monument is a circular balcony hanging off of a 600 meter cliff with amazing views of Caucasus Mountains. This panorama is decorated with Soviet Style mosaics depicting Georgian and Russian heroes, stories and communist symbols. The monument is very vivid and colorful. If you want to sore over the beautiful mountains this is the right place.
4.Pasanauri Restaurant Gudauri

5. Gergeti Trinity Church - one of the most beautiful places in Georgia, it is located near the village of Stepantsminda and was built in the 14th century. The church was constructed on top of a steep mountain surrounded by the vastness of nature. It has an elevation of 2,170 metres (7,120 ft), under Mount Kazbek.
The church itself has a very steep walkway, Once you've reached the church, you'll get a panoramic view of the whole valley and village of Stepantsminda. Again when visiting churches, you must wear proper clothing before going inside.
Gergeti Trinity Church is One of Georgia’s most iconic attractions. The weather was good and sky was clear so we had a stunning views of the mountains. This was definitely the highlight of my trip today.
6. The rooms Hotel - We headed down to the village of Stepantsminda and visited this local luxury hotel.This is the last stop of our journey today After a long day of adventure, a cup of coffee while relaxing with stunning mountain views definitely completes our Day 1 in Georgia.
