Splash Pad Planned for New Park on Coon Rapids Blvd.
COON RAPIDS, Minn. -- Plans continue for the construction of a brand new park in Coon Rapids next year.
At a work session this week, the City Council discussed what amenities they would like to see at Boulevard Park which will be constructed adjacent to the Coon Rapids Ice Center. The consensus was a large splash pad should be the prominent feature in the park. The park would also include shade elements, a picnic area and smaller playground.
Work on the actual design of the park continues with construction planned to start after the 4th of July Celebration next year.
After 2017, there are just three major park projects left to complete with park bond proceeds. At this week's work session, the Council directed city staff to prepare plans for improvements at Riverwind Park and Crooked Lake Park in 2018. And in 2019, Lions Coon Creek Park will get a makeover. Additional trail projects will also be completed in both of those years with park bond dollars.
