Visual and literary arts in the 16th century were closely linked by one figure more than others, Pietro Aretino. Considered the first art critic, Aretino was at the centre of the cultural milieu in the Renaissance and had a considerable influence in guiding the arts. Born in Arezzo in 1492, wherever he travelled the great literary figure entered into the top artistic circles. Four works by Titian will also be on display, given the author and artist’s close relationship. The exhibition will be in the Aula Magliabechiana of the Uffizi Gallery until March 3, 2020.
