XXL trucks: behind the wheel of armored colossi
On the mining sites of Quebec and Mexico, we find the largest off-road vehicles in the world. These behemoths can hold loads of more than 400 tonnes. He drives through the ice, snow and cold, a truck that is more than 15 meters long, 7 meters high and 10 meters wide!
With the greatest caution and the precision of a surgeon, he must pilot this disproportionate machine which is capable of crushing any other vehicle like a fly. In completely opposite climatic conditions, Cesar Fardo is the main operator of the largest truck in Mexico, at the Las Truchas mining site where he works. For his part, he must deal with heat, dust and humidity.
His truck weighs more than 130,000 kg without loading and has a capacity of more than 177 tonnes! Despite the long working days, both drivers must demonstrate unwavering concentration and excellent knowledge of the machine's movements in order to avoid serious accidents.
