🚗 Electrical Safety After a Vehicle Collision: What You Need to Know

In this informative video, we explore crucial safety measures to take when your vehicle collides with an electrical pole. Whether you’re a driver or a bystander, understanding the risks and proper actions can save lives. Here’s what you’ll learn:

Stay Inside the Vehicle: If you hit a utility pole, do not exit your car immediately, especially if you see downed wires. Assume all wires are energized, even if they appear harmless. Your airbag deployment may limit visibility, and hidden power lines could pose grave danger.

Call emergency services: Dial emergency services immediately. Warn anyone approaching your vehicle to stay away. Only leave the car if it’s on fire.

Exiting Safely: If your vehicle catches fire, follow these steps:
Never touch the ground and the car simultaneously.
Open the door, face outward, place both feet on the running board, and hop out without touching the car.
Keep your arms down by your side.
Hop or shuffle away at least 35 feet (about the length of a bus) from the vehicle and any downed power lines.
Help Others: If you witness u someone else hitting a utility pole, do not approach the crash site. Shout at them to stay in their vehicle and call emergency services. If the vehicle is on fire, guide them to exit safely using the same principles.
