I didn't know it at the time, but 1983 proved to be the end of an era for me, with soon-to-arrive 1984 one of the most pivotal of my life.
Early 1983 was soon to become depressing after a relationship break-up, but time was to heal that sad episode, but not for some time (which made it that bit more special). I soldiered on, focusing on my studies, and still searching out new music and attending gigs on a regular basis.
Now, with the benefit of 40 years, I can declare ("ooh, listen to him!") my top 20 albums of the year, with several honourable mentions. So, here they are....
