Here's What A C8 Chevrolet Corvette Might Have Looked Like With A Front-Engine Design. While the mid-engine setup was a smart choice, a new Corvette concept render shows what could have been if Chevy kept the engine up front.
The Chevrolet Corvette is one of the longest-running nameplates not only in GM's portfolio but also in the automotive industry as a whole. Over the course of its eight generations, the Corvette has essentially stayed true to its roots in being a performance-focused coupe or convertible. Through its initial seven generations, the Corvette used a front-engine setup. Despite being one of the best-performing sports cars among Detroit brands, on a global scale, the front engine setup held the Chevrolet back from competing with the best in the world.
Things changed for the eighth generation when the C8 corvette took on a mid-engine setup. While many agree the mid-engine design boosts the Corvette's specs, there are those that prefer the front-engine format. With that in mind, HotCars digital artist Timothy Adry Emmanuel renders a front-engine C8 Chevrolet Corvette concept, visualizing the car if it had stayed true to its former engine layout.
