Matt Lavars, professional coach and head trainer at The Coaching Institute, shares some valuable insights about self-love and its impact on your relationships:
We often hear ‘you should fall in love with yourself’ or ‘you should love yourself’.
But there’s a lot of misunderstandings around this concept. People often perceive self-love means to think they are better than everybody around them. They are the better person in every relationship and judge everybody based on how they see things—not how they actually are.
Self-love has a broader meaning. It does not only mean loving yourself but also has a lot to do with how we relate to others, which is a great window into if we're loving ourselves.
It’s not a switch button, there’s no on or off. It has to be a practice you do every day. The relationship you get to have with yourself and others will improve and you will feel great.
