Heitor Villa-Lobos was a Brazilian composer who lived from 1887-1959. His work combines elements of both Brazilian traditional music and European classical music. He was restrained for several of his works by the Brazilian president Getúlio Vargas asking for only propagandist and patriotic works to be composed by Villa-Lobos. Today, he is viewed as the most influential South American composer, along with Ginastera.

His Fantasia was written in 1948.
