To determine the amount of concrete required to fill a 8-inch diameter by 48-inch long Quik-Tube (Sonotube, Form-tube) depends on premix concrete bags size, volume of rebar, volume of Quik-Tube. To calculate the amount of concrete needed subtract the volume of rebar from volume of Quik-Tube.

The Sonotubes is made of card board biodegradable material in which concrete is poured to form solid concrete pillars, or foundation. The Sonotubes is trademarks brand name and others brand Sakrete and Quikrete has own tubes names form-tube and Quik-tubes respectively.

The standard dimensions of Sonotubes is 8", 10", 12", 14", 16" & 18" in diameter of cylindrical shape and the length of Sonotubes is about 4 feet high.
The most commonly used sonotube sizes are 8″, 10″ and 12″.

The concrete are good compression and weak in tensile strength, so to increase the tensile strength of concrete the 4 piece of #4 or #5 rebar are placed inside on concrete form Quicktube.

Here are the general guideline for the how much concrete amount is required to fill 8" diameter of Quicktube:-

A typical Quick-tube (Sonotube, Form-tube) takes about 0.343 cubic feet (46 pounds, or 21 kg), or 0.57 x 80 lb bags, or 0.75 x 60 lb bags, or 0.83 x 25 kg bags, or 0.69 x 30 kg bags of concrete to fill an 8″ Quick-tube for 1 foot height.

So to fill for an 4 feet height, an 8″ dia of Quick-tube (Sonotube, Form-tube) will take about 1.373 cubic feet (183 pounds, or 83 kg), or 2.29 x 80 lb bags, or 3 x 60 lb bags, or 3.32 x 25 kg bags, or 2.76 x 30 kg bags of concrete.
