The song was originally recorded by Sedaka but it didn’t became a hit until 1975 when Captain & Tennille recorded it and reached #1 in the US becoming the best-selling single of the year. It won the Grammy for Record Of The Year in 1976 and was nominated for Song Of The Year as well.
