Saturday 5 January 2019, 5.30 pm kick off. Grimsby Town bring close on 6000 supporters to this 3rd round FA Cup tie, taking up more than half of the Arthur Wait stand. It was tough on them that they had a player VARded and REDcarded in the second minute, and that they lost to an 86th minute goal (well taken by Jordan Ayew for his 2nd ever Palace goal and 2nd in 2019).
It was great to see some one-time Palace regulars in the side: Souaré (for just 36 minutes), Ward, Kelly and Scott Dann. Riedewald also started, as did Sorloth who galumphed around for 60 minutes. How do these players cope (and how can they develop) with so little game time?
