PVP Live: A portion of the For Honor community is holding a 24 hour blackout event on April 3 in hopes to force better engagement and transparency from Ubisoft.
Since launch, there have been more than a few issues with the game's server stability and the high Steel cost of cosmetics and gear upgrades. Furthermore, some players share disappointing sentiments when it comes to Ubisoft's engagement with the community and ability to identify and address their needs. The Reddit user that initiated the boycott stated a simple desire for mutual respect between the players and the developers. To get there, however, he's compiled a short list of the community's demands.
The For Honor developers try to host a weekly live stream to relay what the team is currently working on. However, specifics concerning the timeline or adjustment values are not always stated.
To sum it up: Ubisoft has not been communicating properly. Their replies are vague and leave players with more questions than answers. Gamers want to know they’re being heard and that the developer acknowledges their issues.
They want to know Ubisoft’s future plans for the game – not all the crunchy details, but broad strokes about competitive play goals or general character ideas would be nice. The first step to know there will be a future for the game is being told that there will be a future for the game.
Steel also seems to be an issue with the community, as they feel forced to buy it. Ubisoft seems to have responded on this issue with the update today, which drastically increased Steel gain.
Matchmaking seems to be the issue everyone wants addressed first. Quote: “I don't care if you have to tweet us saying your fixing the servers every week – that's good enough for me.” The post finished with: “In general, Ubisoft, we want you to communicate with us. We know you can do a good job with this game and we have our faith in you. Just give us a reason to stay faithful."
The For Honor development team has yet to respond directly to the community's blackout.
