In 1975, the Vietnam War ended by the fall of Saigon on April 30, which was due to the defeat and collapse of South Vietnam after the United States pulled out its troops. America began withdrawing its troops in 1973 after the Paris Peace Accords when more and more Americans were opposing the war and it was going from bad to worse.
North Vietnam became more aggressive after the U.S. left. North Vietnam launched a major offensive in early 1975; they quickly captured important cities, including Saigon. Panic-stricken, the people of South Vietnam and those who had supported the U.S. went into hiding.
With Saigon taken over, north Vietnam came out clearly in a victory, the reunification of Vietnam under communist rule for years of fighting and struggles which changed the future of the country.
