This short animation shows the improved noise thresholds and stunning features of the 8763B IEPE accelerometers for micro-vibration testing.
Measuring micro-vibrations is necessary in many applications such as space craft engineering or NVH testing (noise, vibration and harshness). Because micro-vibrations occur in the micro-g range, a highly sensitive measuring chain with very low noise is required for such applications.
The IEPE (Integrated Electronics Piezoelectric) triaxial accelerometer 8763B is the most common Kistler sensor used for these measurements and permits vibration monitoring in three mutually perpendicular axes. The 8763B series now features a significantly lower noise threshold for all its ranges: a 58% lower noise threshold for 100 g, 37% for 250 g, 52% for 500 g, 54 percent for 1000 g and 51% for the sensor’s highest range of 2000 g. The measuring threshold determines the smallest possible level of vibrations that can be reliably picked up by the sensor.
Check out the video for more info on attractive features such as frequency improvements, the special housing and the higher availability – all thanks to improved Kistler facilities and processes.
